The latter is never a problem with the men in the office, they get it but we do have a few women who do not seem to be able to discern between night club and office attire. Again, a social convention. I don't ...Funny you should mention dress pants. I don't own any. Why? Try buying them in a natural fibre. Dare you. One of the key things you notice about "dress" anything is that it's polyester. I don't wear polyester. Some years ago I spent two straight days in Square One mall in central Mississauga, not a pokey little plaza by any standard, trying to buy dress pants in a natural fabric, for a very ritzy charity dinner. I found two pairs: 1) Linen. $75. As this was a sitting event, but which would require me to go on stage late in the evening, I decided linen was a bad idea unless I had time go iron myself before my speech. 2) Silk. $800. Um, no.

I wore a dress. I was able to find some red crushed velvet, which would cope with being sat on for several hours and then look OK. The fabric cost me over $100, if I'd bought the dress ready-made you could have added a 0. I thank every deity listening for my sewing abilities.

I was accused of being over-dressed. I felt like a million dollars actually, but late nights of sewing was all to avoid being crumpled.

If I were a man, I'd have worn a suit. Done. Dress code. Hmm.Melanie Boxallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07123851168700589156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7196829553153577775.post-5503350336830873412013-04-15T09:44:48.601-07:002013-04-15T09:44:48.601-07:00Dress codes are situational as well; as you know I...Dress codes are situational as well; as you know I went to an affair Saturday night. There is a dress code. It is not quite semi-formal but not casual either. Dresses or dress pants are suitable for this particular "do". I don't own any dress pants or at least dress pants that fit after a winter of little exercise and too much fatty foods...then again, they could have shrunk while hanging in the closet..yeah, let's go with the latter.. At any rate, I had to dress up, it is the social convention. Work? I dress but I dress for MY comfort; if I'm puffy, I wear jeans - if it looks like a warm day, I'll wear a dress - one of my Holy Clothing numbers. They are cool and comfy.
Over all? I try not to wear anything that would offend me, if I were looking...like that whole camel toe image. It grosses me out. I don't want my boobs spilling out of my dress/top because this, whether we like it or not, turns us into a spectator sport. That's just the way the ball (boobs) bounce. I don't wear low rise pants - who makes my underwear is nobody's business. I do try to dress for comfort, I do not allow my mode of dress to send out messages that are not reflective of my personality. Hell, even in the spiked heels, I was wearing a black, no-nonsense kind of dress.
I don't want to be worrying about having body parts exposes or falling out of my garments. I'm not Janet Jackson. I don't believe in wardrobe malfunctions. Dark Lillithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17361386355503661284noreply@blogger.com
